Principal's Message
     Aurangabad city is in the Marathwada region in the state of Maharashtra. and is one of the fastest developing city in Asia. Aurangabad is a historical place and attraction for national and international tourists. The city is characterized by the beauty and mountain ranges of Deccan basalt. The world heritages sites of Ajanta & Ellora carving in basalt. Bibi-ka-Maqbara; Deogiri Fort know for its strongest defense; Khultabad as a sufi center and Jaikwadi Dam on Godavari River at Paithan are centers of tourist attraction. The gorgeous handloom like Hemroo and Paithani are locally manufactured and are famous.
     The Marathwada comes under backward region under Section 371 (2) of the Constitution of India. During the Nizam regime though women’s education was not banned, but in reality women were prohibited from enrolling their names in the schools & colleges.
     Marathwada Legal & General Education Society decided to provide women’s education, opened an avenue for women’s education by establishing Mahila Kala Mahavidyalaya, Aurangabad in the year 1970. The college was renamed as Dr. (Sow) Indirabai Bhaskarrao Pathak Mahila Kala Mahavidyalaya Aurangabad.
     The institution was pioneer and first in providing independent higher education facilities to the women’s in the region of Marathwada. College made modest effort in introducing few but important basic subjects initially. As the enrollment was increasing, additionally new subjects were introduced.
      At Present there are 1500 students on roll and about 100 teaching and non-teaching staff. The college provides instructional programme in the faculties of Art, Commerce, Computer Science and Management. It has fifteen departments. The college has well furnished six laboratories in the subject of Computer Science, Commerce Computer, Music, Psychology, Home Science and Minimum Competency Vocational Courses (MCVC).
     The College provides post-graduate programme in the subjects namely English, Marathi, Hindi, Sociology and Home Science
     Academic performance of the College has always been attraction for girls. Annual results of University examination are bright and merit list has girls from Dr. (Sow) I.B.P. Mahila College, Aurangabad almost every year.
     The scope and demand for higher education has been constantly increasing. The new pattern under active consideration for implementation involves creation of intellects of global standards. The domains of knowledge is incomplete without Information and communication Technology (I.C.T). Keeping this in view as Head of the Institution , the College is providing learning recourses as :

     The curriculum framed is judicious mixture in attracting both the diligent as well as intelligent learners, promoting skills leading to employment opportunities as well as acquiring additional free training and providing extra inputs to the students to study specialized and interesting courses.

     To develop the social personalities of the students, we regularly organize the lecture series on the subject :
1. To maintain a excellent family relationship
2. To create awareness for value of character
     The curriculum is framed to develop self defense and self confidence among the girls to protect them from sudden attack in their lives. To achieve this objective the college organizes workshop every year on self defense from the team of experts from Mumbai & Kolhapur.
1. Establishment of placement cell from 19.11.2009 for students employment to build their self confidence.
2. Earn and learn scheme was introduced for students from 19.11.2009, poly green house for maintaining nursery, specially based on ‘Earn and learn’ scheme for the students.
3. We have prepared Blue Prints, power point presentations, Question Bank, preparation for examination, how to read text books and reference books for the students.
     The college also gives guidance in areas such as hygiene, nutrition, cooking to the women and children of the slum areas through the National Service Schemes. Also, the N.S.S. unit of the college works in the orphanages and for adult education.
     The students have been achieving confidence and have active participation in sports, cultural activities, extra curricular activities and in attempting general knowledge tests.

     The progress of the college in the last four decades has certainly made an impact on the women’s education of this area by the way of enrollment, job opportunities

     The M.L. and G.E. Society celebrated golden jubilee in the year 2004-05. The Golden Jubilee function was inaugurated by society’s two colleges, M.P. Law College (1955) & Dr.(Sow.) I.B.P. Mahila College Aurangabad (1970). On this occasion, Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister; Shri Dilip Walse Patil, Higher Education Minister: Dr. Arun Nigwekar, Chairman, University Grants Commission; Vice Chancellor and Revenue Commissioner Shri. Krishna Bhoge sent the best wishes for golden jubilee year.

     The namely M.L. & G.E. Society was established on 10th January 1955 by visionaries late Adv. Hanumantrao Vaishnav, Late Adv. Laxmanrao Kulkarni, Late Adv. Kishanrao Wasadikar, Late Adv. Dattopant Deshpande, Late Adv. Ramrao Mahajan , Late Adv. Madhavrao Lalsare & Late Adv. Shripadrao Newasekar opened the doors of education to the rural and unprivileged masses of Marathwada region . At present M.L. & G.E. Society’s President is Adv. Shri. J.V. Sawant, Vice President Adv. S.D. Deshpande, Secretary Adv. Shri. J.K. Wasadikar and Joint Secretary Adv. Dr. Sow. Kalpalata Patil Bharaswadkar. Because of personal attention, continued guidance and effective inspiration the institution has progressed in all dimensions.      Dr.(Sow.) I.B.P. Mahila Mahavidyalaya is different from the other women’s college. Several innovative courses have been started. This college has sown and scouted the seeds of higher education. Fighting against the odds long back and at present planning for future needs of the area.

     The college has opened the gates of University education to young girls and women in the region in early half century (i.e. in 1970). The college has been constantly achieving the several academic heights.

     The college campus has most of the learning facilities including excellent library, a student centre, ladies hostel, M.L. & G.E. Society’s Tapadiya Auditorium adjacent to the college premises. The college is having well equipped gymnasium in M.L. & G.E. Society’s Sports hall for students & Staff.

     The college has conducted workshops, state and national level seminar in collaboration with Dr. B.A.M.U. Aurangabad.The college is fulfilling its responsibilities towards the society through its various constituent units and activities such as competitive examination.
     The college also organized literacy programmes through National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps units. These units play significant role in the development of students leadership through social commitment. Extra curricular activities are associated with academic programmes with excellent results. A high degree of commitment on the part of students, teaching and non teaching staff has played a major role in successful march of the programme.
