My dear Students

Heartiest Congratulation and Warm welcome to the family of M.L. & G.E.Society’s Dr.(Sow) I.B.P. Mahila Kala Mahavidyalaya, Aurangabad.

The college was established in 1970 as the first women’s institution to impart higher education in Marathwada Region. In addition to this, the intention was to impart education to girls belonging to socially and economically backward classes of the society and for girls from rural areas. The college is the pioneer institution started by Marathwada Legal and General Education Society for girls who otherwise might be deprived of higher education. Since the period of 1970, parents used to prefer girl’s institution especially in Marathwada Region, which is still a backward region. The Institution is named after Dr.(Sow) Indirabai Bhaskarrao Pathak who was the first lady doctor (M.B.B.S.) of Marathwada Region. It has a well defined vision and mission to expel the darkness from the lives of the downtrodden. Empowerment of women to education has been the single minded mission of our founder members and continues to be philosophy and purposeful approach of the institution at all levels and the institution has been successful in achieving its vision and mission of women empowerment.

The institution is centrally located with accessible transportation. It is well equipped with different laboratories, auditorium, physical education, (playground), with added classrooms and text books, national and international journals and e-journals (95,000 e-books and 5000 e-journals) with the assistance of INFLIBNET and N-List. During past years the institution has developed remarkably in terms of infrastructure, department and learning resources.

The institution has been working in the direction of building global competencies which will create a characteristic brand of the institution. It is keeping itself abreast with changing times and is on a fast move to equip its students to meet the challenges of globalization and knowledge explosion. With this view the institution has also introduced B.C.A. Programme in 2009 which exposed the students to practical application of the knowledge gained grooming them for life in the outside competitive world.

The institution offers conventional Arts & Commerce and Science Junior College and B.A. & B.Com and M.A. Home Science Programme. The college has re-accredited with ‘B’ Grade by NAAC (2012). The institution has awarded with “Excellent Examination Centre” twice (2012 and 2016) by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

The institution is continuously running various skill oriented Short Term Courses in order to create employability amongst the students. Recently the institution has taken an initiative for the persuasion of Adventure Sports for the girls and inaugurated “Shikhar Kanya” Adventure Club. The institution is conscious in protecting the environment and hygiene of the campus as well as making conscious efforts to keep the environment green with the help of rain water harvesting and use of solar panels.

Lastly, the college is known for its quality education for overall development of students and it is succeeding entirely due to the trust and confidence placed by the students and their parents.
